Looking into buying a home in Illinois and need help with the down payment? Check out Illinois' Home Access Program.

According to the National Association of REALTORS, the average age for first-time homebuyers is now 40. Fifteen years ago, the average age for first-time home buyers was 32. The Home Access Program, formally called IHDA, is a down payment assistance program that can help make home ownership not just a dream, but a reality for you in 2026!

Those who have not owned a home in the last three years have the opportunity to qualify for up to $15,000 in down payment assistance. Qualifications for this assistance program vary by county. This assistance is structured as a zero-interest, silent second mortgage. Only certain mortgage lenders are participating in this assistance program. Glacier Realty can connect you with one of those lenders, so that you can discover what you qualify for.
